How to delete screenshots on iPhone quickly
· by Davyd Hruts

Open Photos, Media Types, Screenshots. Tap Select, then drag a finger across the rows to select many at once, and tap Delete. To keep a few, select everything, then tap those to deselect them. Empty Recently Deleted afterwards to get the space back.
Select hundreds at once
- Photos, scroll to Media Types, tap Screenshots.
- Tap Select.
- Touch the first screenshot and drag sideways, then down: every row you pass is selected.
- Tap the ones you want to keep, to deselect them.
- Tap the trash icon, then Delete.
Keep the useful ones, without keeping them all
Most screenshots were useful for a day: a code, a route, a receipt. The few worth keeping are usually documents. Move those to an album, or to Notes, then delete the rest by month. Going month by month is faster than it sounds, because whole months are clutter.
Stop them piling up
Since iOS 16 a screenshot can be copied and deleted from the preview in the corner: tap it, then Done, then Copy and Delete. It never reaches the library.
Questions
Do screenshots take much space?
One by one, no: 0.5 to 5 MB. Several thousand of them, which is normal after a few years, take several gigabytes.
Can I get a deleted screenshot back?
Yes, from Recently Deleted for 30 days.
